COMMUNICATION OF YOUR PERSONAL BRAND

 After working hard at building your personal brand as a corporate actor, how then do you communicate it?
 Simply put, communication of your personal brand is about bringing the right attention to yourself . This entails that an actor presents themselves with a view of convincing the target audience that he or she is the best choice.
 Here are some points you may wish to consider when communicating your personal brand;
 1. Appearance – look the part and invest in it. It is important that your personal brand has an image that says “I am what you are looking for … and more!”
 2. Poise and posture – How you carry yourself contributes to communicating your brand. Are you put together, all over the place or a blend? Poise and posture entails engagement of head to toe positioning and movement. In my A level psychology class, we learnt about choleric, sanguine and melancholic traits and that they assist in determining the different personalities of human beings. For example, to communicate agility and assertiveness, having a melancholic disposition would not achieve that goal. However, a choleric one would probably be more appropriate
 3. Appropriate language and demonstration of knowledge- Articulation is about using the correct language and terms to demonstrate that you are knowledgeable in your area of expertise. Understanding that the world waits for no one and what you have may be a single opportunity, will drive you to give it your best shot. If you were given five minutes to impress, how would you deliver?
 4. Distinction – What is unique about your brand package? What is the value addition that you bring to the table? For instance, one of the people that inspire me is very particular about punctuality and due attention and has succeeded in gaining himself the reputation that when you are attending his workshops, you are required to come in on time and pay attention. The value addition is that there is an assurance that participants will have applied themselves to be able to put what they have learned to action.
 5. Being approachable and affable – It is important that you exude positive energy that makes people comfortable around you. Equally, there is an expectation that you have the skills to create an opportunity and environment for yourself that gives you the impetus to approach your target for their attention. It is about overcoming those butterflies in your stomach that you get when considering saying “hello” to that icon that doesn’t know you even exist! Being timid will only hide all that you have to offer.
 There are even more helpful tips out there and I hope colleagues can share!
 Thank you.
