Colleagues may wonder what place soulfulness has in discipline for a corporate actor. How does it help us in navigation of the organizational and general corporate landscape?
From an experience standpoint, I realized that kindness and empathy must have attributes for success in the workplace. Modern organizational behavioral science and a number of motivational quotes by proponents have gone quite some distance to connect kindness, empathy and other “softer” aspects of human interaction in the corporate space to the success of the organization.
In my view, one’s soul has “energy” that can define their attitude towards work and other actors with an impact on individual and collective performance. For example, an actor who fails to exercise awareness of self and the environment they are operating in (which includes other actors) will fail to see potential, challenges, gaps, infirmity, pulse of the group and so on. This may lead to friction and misunderstandings that can stifle growth in an organization. The soul’s energy, on the other hand, when positively directed, will translate into kindness, empathy and flexibility, among other things that will make one a good fit for the job.
Being positively soulful requires one to be consistently intentional, purposeful and conscious about inverting the soul’s energy into a fuel for growth and tranquility.
Summon your soul and positively use it as you discharge your role in the organization. Play your part in the happiness that the organization produces through activated and positive souls.
