THE BUSINESS IN BEING AWARE AND ACTING ON THE “WEAKER” ASPECTS OF YOUR PERSONALITY

Those who have taken personality tests before, whether it is part of psychometrics or other reason, have probably been told that it is important for them to be aware of their personality traits. I couldn’t agree with this more. I would however like to add that awareness is good but it is not enough.

It is prudent for us to identify our personality strengths and weaknesses so that we can be able to handle situations that confront us. For example, an introvert’s biggest weakness is perhaps not being able to speak out or overtly express themselves. They are more akin to bottle things, including dangerous things like anguish to their detriment in the name being introverted. Knowing that one would instinctively be weakened by their personality traits, in my view, opens opportunities of turning it strong and positive with the right effort.

Unfortunately, sometimes some people may take advantage of weakness associated with a certain personality trait to manipulate others. To respond to that effectively, one must be able to rise above situations to turn the tables. Instead of giving the manipulators what they expected of you because you are instinctively introverted, use the period of introversion to process thought and deliver it clearly. That way, you have used your introversion as a manufacturing house for delivery of excellence.

The business of having a grip on the weaker aspects of one’s personality is the creation of a platform for victory over them as we pursue greatness!
