In strategy formulation and implementation, the “buy in” of stakeholders is a critical success factor.
How then can you get the buy in of colleagues? One of the things that is often missed by those seeking buy in, is the requirement that they should be receptive and flexible to feedback from stakeholders. They seem hell bent on what they think should happen to the extent that they become impatient or unreasonably dismissive to constructive feedback from stakeholders.
Think about how welcoming open arms appear and picture yourself as such a character. It is easier to get buy in when there is a softer environment around you and those you seek to convince.
