Retraction of statements, in particular, emails is a way of communicating that “it never happened” or “ there is an error which is being addressed”.
In this age of technology, recalling of emails also comes with the hope upon hope that no one has actually opened the mail. In the event that it has, it is important that the withdrawal is effectively done.
Follow up that erroneous email with a statement that you have recalled the prior mail and same should be ignored by those who opened it prior to the recall. It is called good order and setting the record straight.
Inspired by the need to tie loose ends to avoid unnecessary confusion in communication.
