KNOCKING ON THE DOOR OF MY HOUSE OF THOUGHTS… FINANCE OPERATIONS AND REPORTING

The function of finance operations and reporting is one that speaks to the business health of an organisation. The fact that the financial performance of the organisation is an indicator of its prospects makes relationships with this function integral.

Financial prudence in all its glory is the cornerstone of the financial health of the organisation. Sometimes, colleagues in financial management are seen to be “stingy as if it were their personal funds”! I have come to learn to see this behaviour as the commitment to financial prudence, (unless the motive was to frustrate due to personal vendettas which would be unethical).

To understand the role of finance operations and management is critical because money is a resource that drives, revenue and the ability for expenditure which at the end of it all, translates into value for both internal and external stakeholders in the organisation. Making the connection of governance functions such as this is our enabler for focused direction towards maintaining organisational health.

To my colleagues in finance operations and reporting.. come on in to my house of thoughts!
