PERSONAL GROWTH FOR CORPORATE SUCCESS…reconcilable?

As I stimulate myself into thought, I remember that my school assignments await my attention. A reminder of my desire to keep learning! I remember one day, being asked when I would pursue furtherance of my academic qualifications and particularly giving a deep sigh… “Oh yes… that issue” I told myself. The option of brushing it aside until I was asked again was tempting… for a while!

After taking the leap and upon reflection, I realize that the ask was an attempt to reconcile my personal growth to the success factors of the organization. The organization is dependent on human capital that has the competence and skill necessary to achieve its objectives. Whereas we are able to utilize our skill sets in more areas than our regular vocations, it is important to acknowledge that there is usually a correlation between that personal achievement and the needs of the organisation. It is actually a win-win situation.

The call to corporate governance actors at all levels is to properly channel the fruits of their professional growth efforts in the interest of themselves and organisation. From a strategic expectation perspective, corporates are encouraged to rise to the occasion and structure their interventions and plans towards reconciliation of personal and organizational growth in a targeted manner that is responsive to the issues highlighted above. The fact that it is human beings that drive strategy and operations in an organisation and that by nature are a complex species, a 360-degree approach towards their utilization is encouraged.
