Some interesting discussions I have had with colleagues draws me to share my thoughts under this head.
My mind wanders to a medical process undertaken at ante natal stage… a scan of the foetus for abnormalities. This is an opportunity that the obstetrician has to check whether the development of the foetus is going as expected. All is well…with God’s grace and eventually the child is born with all the human faculties intact.
A clean slate is what we are born with. The rest is a combination of responses to stimuli and active learning and adaptation. Let us not forget that!
As we progress to control and influence ourselves and others, we shape our personalities and responses to circumstances.
Success by its very nature, has a way of somehow inviting us to become oblivious of our foundations and who or what supported or continue to support our growth. All without which, we may not have turned out the way we have. We are encouraged to be alive to this reality and except ourselves from falling into the unpleasant and deep pit of self centredness, by making deliberate, informed and constructive choices.
As a keep sake, let us celebrate ourselves while acknowledging the factors that fueled our success.
At times we will need a continuous supply of certain kinds of fuel for continued growth and success. This inevitably means that we will consistently need support in those areas. We are expected to appreciate the support as we keep going back for more.
Being grounded to the fact that there is a causal relationship between the means and the end is a timely reminder, especially when you are on top of your game!
Be the kind of corporate somebody that is conscientiously going places!
