What just happened?

This is the question that a person who has been “dribbled” by other actors in the organisation will ask themselves.

The horror at the levels of trickery, treachery and dishonesty displayed by the “ dribblers” makes it hard for the “dribbled” to see clearly. It could even be referred to as a temporary moment of insanity, considering the confusing events that may have unfolded.

Could you have seen it coming? How would you have responded to “dirty tricks” while maintaining a clean approach to winning the game? Hard questions!

Being self aware as well as the environment around you is a must. Understand your potential, actual and perceived strengths and weaknesses and work backwards with them to find the version of yourself that you believe in without flinching. This would be your go to place when you need comfort.

Where are you in the “food chain”? Are you the baiter, the bait or the baited? Did you wear that invisible armour with your immaculate suit or did you drop your guard? Why you in any case?

The experience of being triangulated can either consume you or open your mind’s eye to your environment to see the bigger picture. This is also an opportunity to understand the “how” and “why” around you being a target of triangulation. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and shrug off the cobwebs that were blurring your vision.

Detractors and ill meaning people are terrified by clarity because it exposes their cowardice. Some may even brand a person as “difficult” just for seeking clarity or challenging ideas, because of their insatiable appetite for self service. Beware, learn to see with your mind’s eye!

Being aware that the trite principles of propriety and even professionalism may be resisted, gives you an opportunity to carefully plan your execution of the good and beneficial.
