Trademark refers to a recognizable insignia, phrase, word or symbol that denotes a specific product, in simple terms a trademark is a legal shield that protects your brand identity and keeps copy cats away.

An example of such a trademark would be Barbie.

I picked Barbie because everybody in my generation can easily relate to it. Barbie was a small business built by a husband and wife and first trademarked in the 1950’s.

Over the years it has undergone a few changed, undeniably Barbie is now a big brand.

In an age were many are choosing to pursue entrepreneurship, a trademark is a valuable asset for a new business.
