Internal stakeholder relationships are a critical component of the success of organizations. From the perspective of awareness and mutual respect, I am drawn to share my thoughts in this regard.
The business of organizations is broadly modeled around core and support functions. Depending on what kind of attitude actors have and the levels of awareness, it could be a source of strain in the inter functional relationships.
Sometimes actors whose functions reside in the core business tend to regard support functions as inferior and forget that notwithstanding the fact that they render support to the core business, they are also professionals with the same standards as to quality and ethics as other actors. For example, in house lawyers may be considered as support but to say their advice has no influence or impact on the business would be a misdirection. Therefore, actors ought to be aware of their respective roles and offer respect and understanding, regardless of functional placements.
My humble proposition is that organizations need to invest in capacitating respective actors with understanding the business and the points of intersection, always keeping the common goal in mind. That is how you keep relationships tranquil!
