Every now and then I refresh my memory with the principles of peak performance. Thank you to MCA Training International for the great material that seems never to age for me!
Peak performers value feedback and have mastered the art of responding to praise and criticism. They place a premium on the value of feedback as a necessary intervention in the promotion of growth.
What may be seen as judgemental and harsh is carefully turned into an enabler for positive outcomes.
Try responding positively to criticism by asking to hear more about the view of your behaviour and performance and say “ Wow, that’s insightful. I will try doing it differently next time” or “ Thank you for taking time to consider this aspect of my life. I really appreciate your feedback “
Yes, it is sometimes uncomfortable or even painful to hear someone say you don’t make the grade, especially when you were convinced that you put in your best… but then you could have missed something… you are human after all!
I believe there is a lot of power in grace in situations where you have to hear what someone else thinks about you or your conduct.
Inform your future performance by mastering the art of utilization of feedback and grow beyond excellence!
